Apply For A Team

So you want to play in femslash_land? Great! Here's what you need to know;

Femslash land is an interactive challenge community. What does that mean? It means you get put into a team, and then I post loads of challenges (fic writing, graphics making, games, puzzles and more!) which you enter in order to get points for your team. At the end of the phase the team with the most points wins.

We currently have three teams; team_canon (established pairing in TV/film e.g Callie/Arizona), team_crossover (pretty much any pairing as long as it is between people in two different fandoms listed here), team_subtext (not an established pairing in TV/film but seems that something more than friendship is going on between them e.g Cara/Kahlan)

In order to join, your journal should be at least one month old and show sign of activity - including posts, friends, communities, interests etc because this community is about participation. If you won't be able to participate at least once every two weeks then there is no point applying. Inactive members will be cut.

So now that you've read that, (and maybe also the FAQs) please copy/paste the application below and fill it out in a comment to this entry.



All former members before the hiatus MUST reapply. While I cannot promise you your old team, I will try my best. Old members will not get preferential treatment over new ones. Members are divided into teams on a first come, first serve basis.

Please don't send a request to join this community, you will be invited when your application is processed.

Well hey there femslash land.

I was talking with the_windowbird and we were talking about maybe bringing femslashland back to life and so we were wondering if anyone was still around, and would be interested in playing again if we did?

Hey gadies, I'm going to be cleaning out the member lists of both femslash_land and femslash_planet over the next few days. If you have not APPLIED FOR A TEAM, you will be cut from the communities. Remember, everyone needs to re-apply for the new phase! If you have not done so, I can only assume that you are no longer interested in participating in the community and you will be removed.

You should be able to view THIS entry.
If you would like to re-apply after being cut, follow the link above.


Edited (9/16): All cuts have been made. I triple checked through the spreedsheet to minimize errors, but please, please comment to this post if you think you have been incorrectly removed. So far I have only caught one mistake. Which means I did really well or really, really bad.

Teams need to be balanced, but I will try my best to place you with your first choice. Applicants must pick at least two teams. No preference? Let me know and I'll sort you where you are needed most.

REMEMBER THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE NAME. YOU CAN BE ON ANY TEAM AND WRITE/MAKE THINGS FOR SUBTEXT, CROSSOVER, CANON OR SWEEPS. WHATEVER YOU WANT.

Dear 191 people who are watching this community but are not participating,

Since all our entries are locked so that only members can see them it must be really boring for you to be watching this community.

It'll be a whole lot more fun if you join in.

To do that, all you need to do is go to this entry; http://femslash-land.livejournal.com/1572.html and fill out the little form in the comments. I will then put you in a team and invite you to join the community.

There are new challenges every week that vary between writing, graphics, games, team challenges and loads of other stuff.

From now on we're going to have a couple of extra ways to earn bonus points for your team which I will explain here.

On the spreadsheet there will be a column labeled 'Bonus' where any bonus points scored will be added (except for the Sig Banner and Team Icon points which will be added to each challenge's points).

Sig Banners
As in previous phases, you will earn extra points for using a signature banner with any entry to a challenge.

Your sig banner should be 300x150 pixels in size and should say your name and your Team's name. You may of course use more than one banner throughout the phase, and use ones that other people have made for you.

You will earn 2 bonus points per challenge for using your sig banner when entering.

Team Icons
You can earn 2 extra bonus points with every challenge entry if you post your entry using a Team Icon, that is an icon which says your Team's name.

You may share Team Icons within your team.

So if you enter a challenge using both a Team Icon and a Sig Banner you get 4 extra points.

Member of the Week
Each week I will use a randomiser to pick a Member of the Week out of the members who participated in the previous week's challenges, who will not only receive 50 bonus points, but will also have a post where other members can leave gifts for them, such as drabbles, icons, sig banners, etc. You will get 10 bonus points for making a gift for the member of the week.

Participation
To encourage participation you can earn an extra 10 bonus points for every 5 challenges that you enter. (This does not include voting on challenges). These will only be added on at the end of the phase.

Permanent Pimpage
Every week I will randomly pick a member and take a look at their journal, if they are linking to the community either on their userinfo or in their journal's layout somewhere then they will get 20 bonus points. (And I get to feel like a public health inspector or something... erm, yay?)

Random Events
Every so often there will be random events and challenges on top of the usual challenge schedule where you may be able to earn bonus points.


Those are the current ways to earn bonus points. If you have any questions or if anything is unclear please do comment and I'll do my best to explain. Also if you have any suggestions for ways to earn bonus points let me know those too!

Phase 3 Sign Up Post


Okay, I know I said I'd put this up later this month, but I'm waiting for my train to St Petersberg and it'll be a few hours so I thought, why not? However I will not be sorting out the teams until I return to England, so be aware that after replying to this entry you will not hear from me until September 20th. So don't panic when I don't reply right away!

So, if you're reading this and you want to join the fun, whether you are a new member wanting to join or an old member, PLEASE FILL OUT ONE OF THE FORMS IN THIS ENTRY.

Suggestion Post

Hello everyone. As you know the new phase will be starting again in a couple of weeks, and a sign up post will be put up nearer the time. However before then, I wanted to give you all the chance to make any suggestions you might have. Can be anything you like, from suggestions for challenges, to other activities we could do, or how long you thing the phase should last, or how many challenges should be posted at a time. Anything you can think of that would make this phase better. I'd be particularaly interested in any dieas you might have about how to increase participation.

So get suggesting, and I look forward to seeing you all sign up again when I post the Sign Up Post on 20th September (that's when I get back from travelling).

Well today marks the end of Phase Two, which I do hope you've all enjoyed!

I'm actually going travelling over the summer so we will be having a slightly extended summer break and Phase Three will therefore start on Sunday 25th September. (Unless I get arrested/kidnapped/stuck in another country for some other reason! haha)

Anyway, while I'm away it would be really helpful if you could comment on this entry and tell me;
A) Which challenges you enjoyed so much you wouldn't mind me repeating next phase (or which challenges you can think of variations for to make them a bit different next phase)
B) Which challenges you really really hated and will throw rocks at me for if I repeat them next phase
c) Any challenge ideas we didn't do but you think would be fun to try next phase!

Thank you for all being awesome and particpating and putting up with me when I made mistakes with points and times and stuff! I love you all. :)

Included Fandoms/Pairings


Here is the list of included fandoms and pairings for challenges that specify using The List. It's nowhere near complete so if you want me to add a pairing let me know and I'll add it to the list as long as you give me a category for it.

This list does not include crossover pairings because that list would be endless! So when challenges say 'use a pairing from the list' you may use any two characters who appear on this list and the crossover pairing will be accepted.

Please sign up! You can do so here. It'll be fun I promise.

Dear random people who request to join the community...
You need to sign up and be placed on a team before you can play. You can do that here.

From now on all posts will be Members Only, so if you want to play you need to apply here and then you will be invited to join the community.

I have now gone through and removed all members who haven't told me they want to play in Phase 2. So if you played in Phase 1 but didn't yet tell me you wanted to keep playing, please do so and I'll invite you back to all the comms.

Hello everyone

Here's a quick breakdown of the way the challenge schedule is going to run for Phase 2.

- The first set of challenges will be posted next week on Sunday 27th February.
- The Phase will end on Sunday May 29th.
- The deadline for Challenges will always be on a Sunday at 8pm GMT (What's that in my Time Zone?) and the next set of challenges will be posted then too. Remember you can enter a challenge as soon as you've completed your entry, you don't have to wait until the deadline to post it!
- Each week there will be 2 challenges, these will be a mix of Fic challenges, Graphics challenges, Games/Puzzles, Collaborative challenges (in Teams or pairs) and other challenges which don't fit in any of those categories!
- Each month there will be a long challenge lasting the whole month which will require a bit more work than the weekly challenges, again this will be a mix of different types of challenges as above.

Hope that makes sense, if you have any questions ask away.

Also don't forget that if you want to play in this phase you need to comment on this post even if you played in Phase 1, because I need to know who's still playing so I can make sure the teams have equal numbers.

On Friday 25th February I will go through and remove as members from the comms anyone who hasn't told me they're still playing.

FEMSLASH_LAND IS BACK!!!


Hello everyone! My name is Bella, and I have just taken over as mod here at Femslash_Land and will be getting things running again very soon! Hooray!

However since the comm has been on such a long break I realise that people's situations may have changed etc etc, so I thought it would probably be a good idea in terms of making sure the Teams have similar numbers of members if I got everyone who still wanted to play to give me a shout.

So, if you're reading this and you want to join the fun, whether you are a new member wanting to join or an old member (including Team Leaders, please), PLEASE FILL OUT ONE OF THE FORMS IN THIS ENTRY.

If you do not reply to this entry I will assume that that means you no longer want to play.

As far as I can see, the teams are a bit unequal at the moment in terms of numbers, so it may be necessary to move a few people around. Obviously I only want to move people who don't mind being moved, so if you really don't want to move, please say so and I promise I won't move you.
